Microphones     A good microphone will give years of  reliable service. A crap microphone on the other hand  is always a crap microphone.

We use the following Microphones.

Neumann TLM103 (Vocals)

AKG 414C (multi pattern vocal and instrument mic)

AKG 1000S (Good mic for drum overheads)

AKG C418B (Ideal for tom toms)

AKG D112 (The only one for bass drums)

Shure Unidyne III (Before the SM57)

Sennheiser MD421 (The best all round dynamic mic ever in my opinion - also doubles as a laser out of  the original Star Trek series)

Sennheiser E602 Evolution (The mic for bass instruments with low frequency extension and mid band attenuation )

Shure SM57 (Great instrument mic especially guitar cabs and snare drums)

Shure SM58 (Stage vocal mic used at Fitdog for guide vocals during live takes - so good the take can end up on the end mix)

Audio Technica 4033 (Vocals - Airy is the word)

Audio Technica AT3032 (Omni directional ideal as ambient distant mic or for solo instrument recording.

Rode NT1 (Vocals - too good for it's price)

Realistic PZM (yep Tandy's one work of genius - used for ambient sound capture)

Edirol R09 24 bit wav recorder

Ideal as a location mic to be placed in strange places and blended in with the final mix or as a field recorder.

The Neumann TLM103 (right) is a quieter version of the U87 which is the most highly respected industry standard microphone for pop vocals.
